Project Wonderland

Hello everybody! Today, I will be briefly talking about Project Wonderland. This course is an Immersive Education course at Boston College (ImmersiveEducation.org). The program can be launched at http://ied.hep.kbfi.ee:8080/wonderland-web-front/, and a recent version of Java is required. Java can be downloaded at http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp. This is the future of the students; in the near future, students may be taking courses and interacting using this simple program.

After logging in using the BC guest account, I realized that this program was somewhat similar to Rocket World. I was given an Avatar, and I could control it by pressing W,A,S, and D on the keyboard. Chat box was available, and the status of ur friends could be monitored.
On the top menu, I found a section where different types of Avatar could be chosen.

This is a picture of me picking a toy(male) avatar. Notice the change of the appearance.

The camera section has many options where different points of views can be configured. The above screen shot is that of 1st person view.

Another interesting camera angle is the front view, which I think is the only way of seeing the front of your avatar. I was the only one logged on to the server, and I was not given much instructino about this program, so exploring further was difficult. However, I can strongly tell that this is a program highly similar to Rocket World; much of the functions seem to be the same as Second Life.
